The Louisiana Art & Folk Festival originated in 1956. It was inspired by Mrs. Jennie Reynolds. In October 1956, under the name "Caldwell Parish Library Art Festival", it attracted 500 pieces of arts and crafts. Willie Mae Seab, librarian and Mrs. Jennie Reynolds served as chairmen of the event. The festival grew so much that by 1965 it was renamed "The Louisiana Art & Folk Festival." The first president of the organization was Mr. Cameron Minard and Mrs. W. M. Causey was selected as co-chairman of the festival with Mrs. Reynolds.
This year's Art and Folk Festival will be held on October 11, 2008, from 9 AM to 5 PM. The festival is held in downtown Columbia. With more room than ever, the Louisiana Art & Folk Festival has the potential for unlimited growth.
